Pawtuckaway State Park

Pawtuckaway State Park is a preserve located in southeastern New Hampshire. The park grounds encompass 500 acres and cover land from the west side of the Pawtuckay Mountains to the west shore of the Pawtuckaway Lake. Pawtuckay State Park is one of the largest parks in the area and features a variety of fun recreational activities for visitors.
Rock climbing
The Pawtuckaway Mountains situated within the state park comprise a small, rocky range that forms the outline of an ancient volcano ring dike. The ring dike includes a boulder field that is an extremely popular destination for boulder climbers. Between aretes, cracks, faces, crimps, slopers, highballs and lowballs, every style of bouldering is covered. The bouldering available in Pawtuckaway State Park is unmatched in the entire state of New Hampshire.
The lake
Pawtuckaway Lake is an 803 acre lake located in the state park. It is a perfect place for boating, with two boat launches available and a small island to circle. The lake is also an ideal swimming spot, as the water is very clean.
Hiking
Pawtuckawy State Park is an ideal destination for individuals who are passionate about hiking. The numerous trails in the park wind through an oak and hemlock forest in an area bounded by stone walls. One trail leads directly to the boulder field in the southern end of the park and is a great trek for the whole family. While hiking the trails, visitors will also be able to view the amazing wildlife that lives within the area. There are moose, deer, beavers, turtles and a variety of songbirds all living in the park.
Pawtuckaway State Park is an ideal destination for people of all ages, because there are many great activities available. One can rent a boat, go swimming, climb boulders or go on an adventurous hike. The park is truly amazing.
