Northwood Meadows State Park

Whether you are a resident of eastern New Hampshire or a visitor to the area, Northwood Meadows State Park is a beautiful location to enjoy the bounty of nature. This unstaffed park is free to visit, though do not expect a wealth of facilities. Do expect a peaceful, uncrowded visit to nearly 700 acres of woodland trails, wetlands and a large pond.
Activities
The park is ideal for days hikes, boasting several easy to moderate trails. The large area of wetlands makes for great nature walks with unique plants and great birdwatching. The pond, created by a dammed brook, is a great spot for picnics and family fishing trips. Non-motorized watercraft are allowed on the pond, so bring your canoe or kayak for a peaceful paddle. In winter, cross-country ski trails are available.
Facilities
Other than a bathroom at the trailhead, no facilities exist at the park. The nearby town of Northwood has a few options for dining, as well as a supermarket. Northwood Meadows State Park does not have a campground, but camping is possible at several other parks and RV sites in the area. The single parking area is located at the entrance to the park off NH Route 4.
If you are seeking a quiet place to enjoy nature, Northwood Meadows State Park is a choice location. While located conveniently close to town, you can feel like you are in the wilderness with minimal motor noise and acres of wildlands. Your family can enjoy wild areas that are relatively unspoiled and uncrowded.
