Mt. Washington State Park

Mt. Washington State Park is one of the most intriguing parks in the State of New Hampshire. This 52-acre park is located right off route 302 in Sargent's Purchase, New Hampshire and charges $4 for adult admission. Children's admission is only $2 and admission is free for those over the age of 65. The park has several visitor's centers and gift shops, and is mostly visited by avid hikers and outdoor adventurers.
About the park
This state park is located in the midst of the White Mountain National Forest. It is located on the 6,288-foot summit and offers a beautiful view of the nearby valleys and peaks. Snow regularly falls, even in the summer months, so bring suitable clothing if you plan to visit.
Hiking trails
Mount Washington State Park is home to 15 hiking trails that ascend Mount Washington. It is also located along the Appalachian Trial, a 2,000 mile path that runs from Georgia to Maine. Most of the trails in the area are rough and not well-suited for beginner hikers. Snow can make some paths impassible.
Severe weather
One of the most notable characteristics of this park, and of Mount Washington in general, is the severe weather. In fact, it is sometimes considered the worst weather in the world with winds over 75 miles per hour at least 100 days out of the year.
Though the weather may present challenges to hikers, a visit to Mount Washington State Park is an experience of a lifetime. Those who prepare with the proper gear and conditioning enjoy some amazing views.
