History

Milan Hill was originally called Barrows Mountain, named for the first settler of the area, John Ellingwood, in honor of his wife, Rachel Barrows. In 1824, the current New Hampshire governor changed the name of the nearby town of Paulsburg to commemorate Milan Harris. The name of Milan Hill followed suit.
