Lake Tarleton State Park

Enjoying the outdoors is as simple as spending a day at Lake Tarleton State Park in New Hampshire. This unstaffed park occupies 48 acres on the shores of Lake Tarleton and has great opportunities for hunters and anglers. The park's high elevation makes for beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and White Mountain National Forest, which lies just across the lake.

Enjoying the lake

The main attraction at this park is, of course, the lake itself. Visitors can enjoy an afternoon paddling around the lake in a canoe or small boat. There are several launch points, and the waters are calm enough to make paddling safe. There are numerous species of fish living in the lake, including Crappie and largemouth bass. Kids often enjoy catching crayfish and tadpoles in the shallower shore waters.

Picnics at Lake Tarleton

Lake Tarleton State Park is also a prime place to spend an afternoon or evening on a picnic. There are numerous flat, covered areas that are perfect for laying out blankets or tablecloths, as well as some picnic tables in secluded areas by the lake.

Swimming

Swimming is permitted on the sandy area of the beach. However, the beach is unguarded so parents must watch children closely at all times. Pets are not allowed on the beach or in the lake portion of the park.
