Forest Lake State Park

As one of New Hampshire's ten original state parks, Forest Lake State Park focuses on providing a range of outdoor activities for families and nature enthusiasts. It was created in 1935 and remained open to the public ever since. The park is open from May until September from dawn until dusk, and there is a small fee for admission. The money collected is used to maintain and improve the park. Visitors can still enter the park during the off season, but some amenities are unavailable due to reduced staffing.
Sights and sounds
The main sights and sounds in this park are those of nature. Visitors regularly see species such as deer and moose, as well as bears, raccoons and squirrels. The 397 acres of forest land are left mostly untouched by humans and are considered a mature wood. Mixtures of evergreen and deciduous trees form a shade canopy that makes hiking comfortable, even in the hottest months.
Activities
Aside from hiking and climbing, this park also offers several other activities for visitors. Boating and fishing are permitted in certain areas, so long as patrons hold the correct license. The sandy beach on Forest Lake is man-made and has its own bathhouse. There are also several playgrounds for children, as well as picnic areas for seasonal use.
