Clough State Park

Clough State Park is a very popular beach-based park in Weare, New Hampshire. This park is quite the little gem full of water recreational activities. Overlooking a very large lake, you can take in some fresh salty air, the scenery and atmosphere to genuinely experience what it means to feel true tranquility.

Creation

This park was created because of a need to dam the Piscataquag River in 1963. The need arose because the original dams were destroyed in a hurricane in 1938. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers built the Everett Dam, part of the Hopkinton-Everett Flood Control Project, to prevent a recurrence of this caliber of devastation. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers still owns this park and the New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreations operates it. The lake that was created by the dam is known as Everett Lake. The park itself lies on the shoreline of Everett Lake.

Activities

There is much to do at Clough State Park. Take a walk along the 900-foot beach or go to one of the two bathhouses. Boating and swimming are the most popular activities. Only small boats, kayaks and canoes are allowed in the park. A playground and large picnic grove are found in the lake area. Fishing is plentiful, along with very large areas for picnicking. There are several rocky trails that are perfect for dirt biking and four-wheeling. Sightseeing is an absolute must! There are plenty of peaceful trails and gorgeous wildlife and foliage found along the trails. The gentle rolling of the water paired with the gorgeous scenery offers you a serene experience.
